radio lewis
today on weei at 1:00 dave lewis will be on. i hope but do not know if i will be able to listen in. before hearing it i can tell you that the lewis haters will find reasons not to like him no matter what he says. those of us who believe he needs a chance tofail or succeed with a real team will probably also not be swayed either. i am wondering if these lewis haters have the gumption to get on the line and accuse him of the crimes i have read he has commited.
those who do hear it please post your reactions here, i will be very interest to see how people react.

I was happy to hear him on the radio, and taking caller's questions. For all the grief I heaped on him this season, I give him full credit for stepping up and getting grilled.
That being said, I'm not sure I bought all his answers (like blaming the "play not to lose" mentality on his players) but he did make good comments on losing key guys at key times to injuries, how the whole Brad Stuart situation affected the team, and how Bergy's injuries hampered his play but he (Bergy) refused to whine or make excuses, even to his teammates.
I'm all for giving Lewis a clean slate come training camp, but this team HAS to show a marked change in their style of play. The goal differential per period came up a few times and it was telling that Lewis blamed that on the players to a degree, and their mental shape. I think that with a different mindset going into next season, along with (hopefully) a full NHL roster, this team will be much improved *crosses fingers*
thanks russ... i was able to hear the first half only partially intrupted by work. i have issues with the number of too many men on the ice penalties and his answers there... i think he needs to publicly threaten his players on this one. while he takes the blame he can also delve the punishment. the players must be held accountable and punished on this one. i have to eat dinner now will try to fill in more thoughts later , i hope.
this comment is for the anti-lewis guys and should be brought to lewis's attention before he steps up on the bench behind the players again.
your not in detriot any more dave.
for your players on the bruins to respond to you you need for your favorite team to be the bruins. your favorite player has to be bergeron or axellson, not yzerman.
you can say the right things about the wings being in your past, but you can hear in your speach and tone that they are not.
this team is not the wings, this team has very limited playoff experience, this team needs to be taught these things, you can not expect it from them.
that said i still stand by my view that this team was also short two nhl caliber lines for most of the season.
one last comment that dave's appearance on the radio has me thinking. i read all year that lewis was stifeling the offence and playing a defense first system too much.
i do not buy that this is true. if it is, well then, dave really probably doesnt stand a chance next season. here is why i do not buy it.
if dave was forcing his players to play defence first they are simply awful at it. they gave up the second most goals of any team in the league. and your going to tell me they achieved this playing a defense first system? new jersey and minnesota play defense first systems and they gave around up a hundred goals less on the season.
i also do not buy that a defense first coach then goes and empolyee's the umbrella formation on the power play WITH FOUR FOWARDS. that doesnt sound like d first too me(resulting in a league leading number of shorties- does this sound like a defense at all costs coach to you?).
dave actually laughed about this one, he did say he asked the defenseman not to pinch. personally i am ok with this as the number of 2 on 1's and thier effectiveness seems to have gone up with less of the clutch an grab remaining in the game.
"your not in detriot any more dave."
That's an astute observation, neb. I'd noticed this too, but hadn't really noticed it, if you know what I mean.
Another thing while I'm here. Reading the player "exit interviews," was I the only one who had the urge to say, "Just shut up?" I mean, I'm really tired of hearing the players say all the right things. Are they hockey players or politicians? I'd like to see them do their talking on the ice, not off it. Perhaps Lewis was taken in a bit by the fact that many Bruins seem to talk a better game than they play these days.
