Free agency day 1

So the big signing of the day is Michael Ryder. At first blush, I had to take a second to stop hating a Canadian....then I decided I like this deal... that was my first reaction. Not the same as a Hossa, but presumably a considerably better value.

What do you think?

Ryder and Rolston were the best two fits for the team right now. Great move to get at least one of them. Leave the over rated floater Hossa for someone else.

What do I think? I think he's a career -24 and unlike most every other NHL player somehow failed to impress in his big year previous to free agency. But Claude seems to like the guy so I guess he can't be all that bad.

Maybe I'll like him better if we can get that rouge et blanc off of him in all the pictures.

Well in his defence, he went from 16:16 to 13:04 average ice time per game.

Also, he went from 3:52 to 2:07 on avg PP/game.

That is why he went down in scoring. It was said he was in the doghouse, but it isn't known why.

Doghouse rumor is he and Carboneau's wife had a fling.

He will be good in Boston (50 pt. man with 20 - 25 goals). Is a steal at 1.3 per also. I love this signing :)!!!!

From boston.com:

By adding Michael Ryder's $4 million annual cap hit to the mix, the Bruins are at $54361666.

it was 4 mil. the person who told me 1st was mixed up - sorry.

I still like the signing - a player who gives his all and should fit in nice with the team we have now and the direction it seems to be going in.
