Gameday - Bruins @ Penguins 11/22/06

Tonight's match-up should be a good one. The Penguins have two of the NHL's brightest stars in Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Combined, the two account for 19 of the 62 (30%) goals scored on the team. So it is safe to say if you shut down Crosby and Malkin the bruins have a good chance to win. Good news for the Bruins came in the Penguins last game when Crosby left the game in the 3rd period with a groin injury. While it is not expected to be bad it may keep him out of the line-up tonight. At the very least it may limit Crosby's ability to skate around our defencemen (Mara).

In the nets for the Bruins, as usual, will be Tim Thomas. He is coming off a 3-2 loss to the Panthers after winning his four previous starts. The Penguins will most likely counter with Marc-Andre Fleury who has won his last three starts.

The Bruins have injuries to York and Axelsson with Savard contracting a flu virus. The status of Savard and Axelsson is unknown but there is a good chance Savard will play. Axelsson blocked a shot in his last game and will play if he can tonight. Mark Stuart was recalled yesterday and will suit up tonight on defence. This means that a player may sit or Chara or Brad Stuart may move up to the forward position. If that were the case I would hope for Stuart as he is the more mobile of the two. It is still possible a forward could be recalled from Providence to fill in if needed but we will need to wait and see.

Should be a great game tonight!

****UPDATE****

As noted by Latrappe from Bruins Rumors, Brian Finley will start over Tim Thomas (Stiff neck from his head stand). This report comes from the Globe blog. Also of note in the blog post; Crosby is now a confirmed scratch, Yan Stastny has been recalled, and Toivonen will be starting all three of the upcoming games for Providence. I guess this means Jurcina will be healthy scratch, and Chara and Stuart will remain on defence.

Your Bruins look to be in good sahpe tonight with Crosby out. But you forgot a key peice of the Pittsburgh puzzle: scoring on 32% of his shot Mr. Jordan Staal. Remember this guy or he may suprise you at least once. But with a full line-up and Tim "The Flop" Thomas you should come out on top.

The Burins look to be in good shape with Crosby out. But there is one peice to the Pittsburgh puzzle you can not forget: scoring on 32% of his shots Mr. Jordan Staal. This guy can score! But with a full roster and Tim "I Flop" Thomas the Bruins should come out on top.

From Globe : Brian Finley will start tonight. Tim Thomas, who was upended by Joe Nieuwendyk on Monday, isn't 100 percent.

Jurcina : Healthy scratch.
