Roster Moves

A few things have changed in the last 24 hours or so. Phil Kessel at last report is in the hospital receiving treatment and the team is unsure yet if will be placed on the IR. Mark Stuart was sent down to providence along with Hannu Toivonen and Toivonen has since been recalled.

To replace Kessel on the 4th line Yan Stastny has been recalled. Also today, goaltender Brian Finley has been placed on waivers by Boston. With this move I assume he has come off the IR and will report to Providence if he clears waivers. Doesn't he have a two-way contract? If this is so then he would not go on waivers. Does this mean he is up for grabs? Maybe someone can answer this one for me. Providence will have a total of three goaltenders if he is sent down.

Finley has a two-way contract. Being on waivers means he's up for grabs until noon tomorrow; if no one grabs him, he'll be down in Providence, where yes, they'll have three goaltenders- Finley, Sigalet, and Sauve. Not sure if the waivers thing is because of his status (veteran) or because Boston's suddenly all, "aaw, shit, we've got an extra goalie and we've got to drop one." Either way, Brian was in Providence last night, which makes me think he was assigned down to Providence and he's having to clear re-entry waivers. Boston took him off IR.
