New York, New York - "The City That Never Sleeps" unless you are a member of The Bruins

Last night in New York The Bruins' playoff hopes all but disappeared with a New York 6 goal posting in the second period as they blanked The B's 7-0. Not much to report except that The Rangers played desperate hockey and came away with 2 big points while The Bruins just went through the motions.
I was hoping that The B's would not have anymore of these games this season but in all reality they are still a young team in search of a system and an identity (have actually had quite an entertaining season considering).
They can still make the playoffs but their chances now are very slim and basically need to win out the remainder of the schedule. That chance is still there and until they are mathematically eliminated I will not give up hope (I might be foolish but there is still a slight chance).

Game hilights:
- None for The Bruins (sorry but it was a poor effort).

3 stars as picked by me:
1, 2 and 3 - all Rangers so who cares what their names are!

Next The Bruins have 2 games with The Hated Habs - need to win both of these if a chance is still there. Even if The Bruins do not have a playoff hope I still want these two wins so that they spoil Montreal's chances of the post season.

*** Happy Birthday to Heather - a Bruins fan and friend of this site!

Go Bruins Go!!!

this is such a fragile team... at the begining of the second period the bruins had a power play. they needed to score on it. if they did???? who knows we might be still talking about playoffs races and the implications of the other games ect. they did not cash in. soon after the rangers made it 2-0 and you could see their game go away. why do they not get mad? they seemed to back away from every check after getting down by a couple, hits were there, but the boys did not want to issue them?

for those of you who want to blame thomas or the coach - new jersey got a 7 spot put up on the yesterday too (new jersey is a good team i hear). sometimes the hockey gods do these things and its teams playing together that can prevent them, not goalies or coaches.

The thing that disheartens me is that that's the kind of game where you expect the Bruins to come out fighting tooth and nail for their playoff lives. But they didn't...they played absolutely horrible.

Even one of the Rangers announcers on MSG said it bluntly during the 2nd intermission when he said "the Bruins stink". Normally I'd be taken aback by that kind of comment. Commentators usually will make snide remarks about the opposing team but usually stop short of flat out insulting them. But how do you defend a team that's down 7-0 after the second period? Pathetic.

You wonder that, even IF the Bruins did make the playoffs, how well would they play when under pressure? If last night was any indicator, they would apparently just fold up the tent and go home.

Treebob,
Baseball sucks more than the Bruins' performance last night!
They are already showing games on the tube and the jays have as much of a chance of winning as Donovan has of winning next years NHL scoring race!
Give up watching baseball and start getting outside more (it is summer). I recommend golfing everyday:)
