some quick hits

congrads to number 4 for recently getting a post published at a blog that is notorious for editing out any comments that might be seen as critical to the blogs author's. i lurk at the same blog from time to time and some of the opionions there make me want to break my computer, but i refuse to validate them by holding back my temptation to post.

some other computer breaking comments found around the web.

"lewis doesn't know what he is doing with his line combinations"
personally i think he knows exactly what he is doing. he rewards those that do what they are asked to do. he puts trust in players who have earned it, by doing the things he has asked them to do. he trys to keep guys from hurting themselves, by putting them in a position to succeed.

it is plain he wants a "energy line" - how do i know? he has said so. this is how he plans to use an energy line. after goals for, after goals against, after penalties for, after penalties against. and when they are ready. thats quite a bit! the key to a good energy line? it should not give up the puck - especially in defensive and neutral zone play. it should hustle, grind and hit. the candidates for such a line on this team presently are: primeau, donovan, axelsson, mowers, riech, bergeron. i would argue and many i think will agree that you dont want to use any of your top 6 players on your "energy" line, therefor you have to take axelsson and bergeron out of potential energy line guys.

so if you have two top lines with your top 6-8 guys and a third energy line, that you are going to use at the critical points in games as i have listed above. that leaves you with guys like kessel, tenkrat, chistov, boyes (depending on who has thier game going) not getting huge minutes (especially in games where there are a lot of special teams). these guys get sprinkled into play as much as possible. but i guess not enough for some people.

i guess that wasnt exactly a quick hit: here are some that are

"what is primeau doing on the powerplay instead of (pick)...."
he is supposed to stand in front of the goalie! (you dont want some pretty boy doing that do you?)

"why is the coach skating bochenski with primea and donovan"
never happened! it only happened in a practice, practice! would belicheck give you his line up if he didnt have to? also you dont just give a guy who walks into your rink for the first time somebodies spot who is in your top 6 fowards...they have to earn it!!!

"if they dont get anything for brad stuart then the joe thornton trade is wasted."
what did joe thornton ever do for us? im glad to have his 6 mil off the books. savard is cheaper and he cares (oh and he is better)!

these are my opionions let me have it!

neb,
You stole my words. I was debating for the last couple of days about writing a post along these same lines.
I will be adding a little more to what you started in a couple of days. I am just waiting until something plays itself out. I want it to happen before I write on it - it will follow the ground work you just posted.
Who knows maybe people will blog about how out to lunch we are - but if they want to comment on our veiws they are more than welcome... and guess what... we WILL post comments with opposing opinions!

Neb, Thornton may have disappeared in the playoffs (and in 03-04, injury may have had a play in that) but his regular season play definitely helped them *get* to the playoffs. Thornton was always one step short of being an "elite" player, but you can't just discount him altogether.

Savard's having a great year this year, but I wouldn't say he's better just yet.

savard cares and it shows in his game. thornton cared when he wanted to or when someone got him mad and then he was dangerous to himself and others (poor gill)....

i got more - peeps are saying pick up sammy at half price...never gonna happen! i say sammy spends the next two years in the minors, why would montreal pay half his salary to play somewhere else after all the belly aching he has given them!!

Sorry doobie but I have to agree with the nebster on the savard issue. He is argueably a bit little more talented than Joe but his heart and caring about winning makes him 100 times more valuable to a team. Savard is "The Man"!!!

Primeau doesn't have to stand in front of the goalie anymore on the power play. This isn't 1984, any pretty boy can stand in front of a goal. Right now Wayne is the biggest drain on the roster. He's not developing and he doesn't play up to his size. He's like that miserable baby Hal "The Big Useless" Gil.

Neb, Buff, where I *will* agree with you is that Savard so far has provided more bang for the buck than Thornton did. But it's still 52 games into the season and Savard hasn't played a playoff game yet so it's difficult to judge him form that perspective (actually, he's never played an NHL playoff game yet, period).

Doob: it is good to see you agree. I knew you would come around and see things the right way.
If Savy played on the B's teams that Joe did we would have a couple of more cups now!

You know, I really didn't expect that mesage of mine to be posted on that other blog. I was just blowing off some steam. After all, it was my third one! Unfortunately my other comments were more articulate and rather less nasty. Matt was smart to post it. I think he finally got rid of me!

Neb, I sure agree with wanting to break my computer. They have one guy over there who thinks the coach is a complete idiot and that nearly all of the 7-12 players should be traded. He even suggested trading PJ for a low draft pick! It makes me wonder, just what are these guys fans of? I mean, if they don't believe in the coaches and only like a few of the players, then what is it? The spoked B? I just don't get it. They seldom have anything good to say at all. The only thing I can come up with is that they like to feel smarter than everyone else. They may feel that way, but they sure don't look it!

I agree about Savard and Thornton. Joe was great, don't get me wrong, but I too felt the frustration when it came time for him to step up. He was put in a position where he didn't really fit. Too many ghosts in the halls, too many expectations he could't live up to. So that said, I'm really happy to have Savvy. I think his rally caps are just the tip of the iceburg when it comes to his influence on team spirit. And look at how good our guys are at the shootout! What a great player to have on our side.

I take it you are one of those guys from "the other blog" posting anonymously again? Ever have anything nice to say?

Premeau has great heart and he is welcome on my roster anytime. Come playoff time it is guys like him that allow the skill players to win games. Too bad some people can't see anything beyond scoring.

Again, I just don't get all this piss and vinegar from "fans." This team is coming together and moving forward. What more do you want?

You know, back in the old days (before that group's first cup) people complained that Bobby Orr was a glory-seeking puck hog and that Espo only scored garbage goals. There were those who wanted to see them gone! Those people were idiots. I suppose every generation has them...

anon - thats just the point the pretty boys are too afraid of the puck to stand in front of the goalie... they believe thier talents too great to be put in dangers way.

im pretty sure that wayne will stand there when asked to and thats why he gets to play there....

you understand that you do not have to have hands to be a screen? correct?
i do agree that when waynes contract is up i would like to see an upgrade at the third line center...but that does not mean that primeau has no value to this team.....

Yeah the funny thing is, I could give a rats ass if they disagree, but it is when it gets into name calling and swearing I usually delete them. But if you still hold a grudge neb, I'm glad, you would have been even more offended if I did let the comments about you go in, maybe you should thank me for not letting them by.

Matt -- these guys you have posting, particularly latrappe and pekese, they have awfully strong opinions that deal with things they can't possibly know about. Like what goes on in the locker room and what goes on in the coaches head.

Having an opinion is one thing, and being critical of results (like a loss) is fine. But they think they are smarter than the pros, and that's just ridiculous. They show no humility and they seldom say anything positive. Instead they come up with some lunacy out of left field and hang on to it for dear life! Like how Thomas sucks. Remember that? I tried pointing out why latrrappe was wrong again and again, but he wore me out! And this pekese guy is just as bad. Why would I want to read strong opinions about coaching from some guy who never coached at any level?

I came to your site because it often has the latest trade rumors. But I can't take these guys! Being incessantly critical about everything is not what being a fan is about for me. Particularly when these guys haven't a clue what they are talking about... you should be embarrassed. Sorry.

Oh, and I just checked and you let through a nasty personal attack against me that had absolutely nothing to do with the Bruins!

Nice. This from the guy who deleted two of my comments that were simply critical. Can you spell hypocrite?

#4 - I think you meant the above comment to be posted on another site.
Maybe on the Bruins Rumor site that is trying to be like Eklund (Oh God why would anyone want that).

Anyway we post all comments - critical,good,bad......

We do not discriminate against people who's ideas are different than ours.

I apologize, jimbuff -- I see that some readers might have misinterpreted my comments to be about this blog. I was responding to Matt, who made a comment here on this page, and whose blog I was speaking about. I would have posted a comment on his blog, but I am sooo done reading it. I even deleted the bookmark.

I'll shut up about it now. I promise. :-)

You said, "I will be adding a little more to what you (neb) started in a couple of days." I'm intrigued and looking forward to it!

Number four-As much as I agree with almost all of what you said in your first post above, I have to say more than anything that I *AM* a fan of the spoked B.

It's why I care. For Bucyk, Orr, Cam, Ray, etc., even for Moe Lemay. ;-) The Bruins are my team, and have been since I knew what hockey was.....Good or bad.

Oh, I am frustrated right now with their play this year as a whole, but I still watch every game.

Someday we will all look back at this time and will be glad we stuck it out as fans. It happened for me with the Patriots and especially the Red Sox....and the B's will hopefully do the same....(soon, please)

Don't even pay attention to someone who thinks PJ should be traded for a low draft pick.

That may be an idiot. Let the idiots drift away. They'll be back, unfortunately. And we will be standing next to them at the parade.......but we'll know we were always there as fans, and trying to find positive things to say about this team.....*sniffle*....*tear*
