Gameday - Bruins @ Thrashers 11/06/06

The offence is clicking just in time, as the Bruins will be taking on the high scoring Atlanta Thrashers tonight. At this time there still hasn't been any announcement regarding tonight's starting goalies, but I’m giving the edge to Tim Thomas and Kari Lehtonen.

Thomas was given the night off on Saturday against Tampa Bay, but was asked to come in and stop the bleeding after Hannu Toivonen gave up 5 goals. With Thomas out of the net and the Bruins on the PP, Zdeno Chara scored with 47 seconds left sending it to overtime where Murray scored the game winner.

While Hedberg is the hot goalie in Atlanta right now, Lehtonen is still their man. Hedberg has played well in the last two games (both wins), but look for Lehtonen to start after getting a much needed rest. Depending on which Lehtonen (if he starts) shows up for the game, it could be a blessing for the Bruins. Over his last 4 games Lehtonen has a record of 1-2-1 with an .817 S% and 4.86 GAA.

Here are some stats for each team including the stats for all four possible starting goaltenders for tonight.

Still out for the Bruins are Brad Stuart with an injury to his finger and Jason York with a knee injury. York will have surgery today to probe and clean his knee. If things go well, he may miss a couple weeks at most.

To end here is a nice story by the Globe on Finnish goalies.
